Message from the commissioner
None of this would probably exist without Chris Lusk. Period. The three-time champion and MVP winner is the creative genius behind this website and all the logos, funny photoshops and Twitter bots of the FMAA. The truth is I couldn’t do this without him.
I met Chris at the Oklahoma Daily, the independent student newspaper at OU, in 2010. During our time working together at the Daily, Chris saw some of my best moments and more than a few of my worst ones. You haven’t really lived until you’ve paid for $2 Blue Moons with a Crown Royal bag full of quarters. Trust me.
Chris also either taught me or refined nearly every marketable skill I now possess. I’ve had the privilege of working with some talented journalists, designers and digitally-minded people, but none more gifted than Chris. He and his wife, Lindsey, are amazing and have done everything from talking me through rough breakups to letting me crash at their place for a week while I waited for my new apartment to be available.
Hours and hours designing the paper or Inside the Huddle together. All the nights in The Corridor and at The Library. Appointment TV viewing for “The Walking Dead” and “Mad Men” with Chase. Galavanting around Louisville and Orlando with those zany Iowa State kids. I could keep listing things for a long time, but Chris is a Friend™ because he’s loyal beyond measure and he doesn’t give up on me even if I’m really bad at staying in touch.
Also, he used to be in a band.
